Semester B 17/18, 2nd February 2018

Abu Hurairah stated in a hadith every prophet of Allah has one dua that is guaranteed to be accepted by Allah. All of them except one used theirs in the dunya.

For example, Adam (AS) repented to Allah and asked for forgiveness for eating the forbidden fruit with his wife and Allah forgave him.

Yunus (AS), when in the belly of the whale, asked Allah to rescue him and Allah did.

Musa (AS) made dua to Allah that his speech could flow, his mission to Firaon made easy and that his brother could become a prophet him and Allah made all of this happen.

On the day of judgement when everyone will be sweating and only caring about themselves and not even their own parents will care about them, there will be one person who won’t just care about himself, but his ummah and every Muslim.

This is our Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and he will cry to Allah in sujood for our forgiveness and Allah will accept his intercession. The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said none of you will truly believe until I am more beloved to you than your own parents, children, siblings, friends etc… Allah in the Quran commands us to love the Prophet (SAW).

Our own parents ask us how our days have been when we go home just because they want to know everything about us due to their love for us. We should all then strive to know everything about the Prophet (SAW) and implement everything we learn about him, especially his characteristics, into our lives as our love for him should be more immense than our parents’ love for us. A hadith states that the Prophet (SAW) said that “if you see me in your dreams then it is me because the shaytaan cannot imitate me in a dream”

Characteristics of the Prophet (SAW):he was of average height; his face was a striking face and radiant like the moon but it was also soft and a pinkish colour; his hair was neither curly nor straight; the revelation came to him when he was 40; he was in Mecca for 10 years after the revelation then in Medina for 13 years; there were no more than 20 white hairs on his head and beard; he was broad shouldered; no protruding belly; thick hair down to his shoulders; soft hands and feet; he would walk as if he was walking downhill by leaning a bit forward; the land would level itself for the Prophet (SAW); his voice had an echo and beam to it but was soft; Allah gave him concise and succinct speech. He was very beautiful; a companion said that the Prophet’s (SAW) face was more beautiful than a full shining moon.

Manners of the Prophet (SAW)- he was known as Al Ameen (the trustworthy). When the Prophet (SAW) migrated to Medinah after being rejected by his own people in Mecca, he left Ali (RA) and told him to return the possessions the people gave to him back to them. Even his enemies trusted him with their possessions. In a hadith, the Prophet (SAW) said “I have not been sent except to perfect good character”. When the Prophet (SAW) spoke to people, he gave them his full, undivided attention even though he was an exceptionally busy man: a Prophet, a general, a husband , a judge, an imaam… Everyone felt as though they were the most beloved to him. The Prophet (SAW) even asked his wife if he could pray the night prayers out of respect to his wife. In the town of Taaif, where the Prophet wanted the people to accept Islam he was actually abused by them and even by the children. But when the angels of the mountains told the Prophet (SAW) that they could just let the two mountains either side of the town collapse onto the people due to their oppression towards him, the Prophet (SAW) showed them mercy for he was thinking about the possibility that the generations to come would embrace Islam and worship Allah.

A practical way to start loving the Prophet sincerely is to revive his Sunnah: fast on Mondays and Thursdays; clipping of the nails on Fridays; use of miswak; smiling. Also, to read the Seerah of the Prophet (SAW), a good book is The Sealed Nectar. The more you learn about his life, the more your love for the Prophet (SAW) intensifies.
